About

Techno art is one of many that signifies a country’s technological and cultural strengths. It is also a mirror that reflects how technology is being made applicable and innovated. Progress in techno art goes hand in hand with strategies/ policies. Taoyuan City is blessed with abundant culture, art, and favourable industrial prowess to start with, topped off with new policies such as Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency and Smart City. Like layers of dark fertile soil rich in fermented nutrients, they create a fine breeding ground for good quality techno arts in Taoyuan, which is Qualified to emerge the TAxT, it is right time to be born.

“Hello, world” is the theme of the first TAxT. It is a snapshot of time from the “start” to the “future”. The highlight of this exhibition is like an ice core that preserves the historyof technology art from start to the unforeseen future. In other words, it is an attempt to represent the original and future of technology art in both macro and micro ways. The subtitle “(hello, world)” in paranthesis is the start of the most basic programming language every beginner programmer will know. It is a warm message greeting visitors of this digital world and the first TAxT.

In the future, we hope that TAxT can bring about Art x Technology works with much more variety and open-mindedness, with interdisciplinary avant-garde experiment, with fearless exploration in development, with industry-government-academia collaboration, and with profound technological culture, in order to endow Taoyuan Art x Technology Festival (TAxT) with a local as well as international perspective.
